Proton is looking for a Director ofEngineering to join our fast-growing team.We are looking to hire someone in the greater Boston area who is open to ahybrid schedule. The position allows working from home two days per week. What you’ll do·Design and oversee agile development, testing, and release processesto ensure product quality and reliability.·Ensure that development teams adhere to modern agile continuousintegration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) software development practices.·Manage daily Scrum ceremonies and long-term development estimatesto deliver new product features on time and with high levels of testingand quality.·Manage forward-looking technology backlogs to maintain low defects,focusing on security, upgrades, patches, and platform scalability and stability.·Optimize and drive efficiency within the engineering organization todeliver projects on time and meet customer requirements.·Ensure visibility and predictability around engineering processes andsystems to enhance organizational efficiency.·Measure code quality and workflow efficiency for the whole organizationand develop improvement plans.·Identify and establish useful metrics and key performance indicators(KPIs) for the organization, and closely measure the engineering team'simpact on the business.·Scale and grow the engineering team through hiring, onboarding, andby fostering a learning environment with professional development,coaching, mentoring, and performance management.·Become an expert on our customers by learning and understandingtheir needs, collecting feedback, and conveying product features.·Participate in and engage with sales and/or customer success calls, in-person sessions, and user research.·Work closely with the Executive team to ensure that engineeringresources are aligned with business priorities.·Regularly visit and meet with customers to understand their needs tosupport continued organizational success. Minimum Requirements·At a minimum, a U.S. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,Computer Systems Engineering, or a related field, or the foreign degreeequivalent.·5 years’ progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience inthe job offered or a related occupation.·Experience with software development using the following programminglanguages: Python, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript.·Experience designing architectural patterns of high-scale webapplications, including APIs, high volume data pipelines, and datastructures.·Experience using Infrastructure software tools, including GitHubActions, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Redis, Docker, or Microservices.·Experience managing/leading a team of engineers throughout technicalsoftware engineering projects.
