Software Engineer, Autonomy Applications

Overland AIbuilds intelligent uncrewed ground systems for defense and national security. Our autonomy stack, OverDrive, is defining the state-of-the-art for perception, planning, and control of uncrewed vehicles, enabling them to traverse and operate in any terrain, regardless of roads, in any condition. OverDrive was purpose-built for the warfighter. Through our work with DARPA and the U.S. Army, we are developing the intelligent capabilities necessary to power modern ground operations, now and for decades to come. In a little over a year, the company has been selected for or awarded eight-figures of OTAs and other contracts across multiple services and DoD customers. We have raised over $10M in funding, led by a top multi-billion dollar AUM defense tech investor. We are looking for experts in defense, robotics, and machine learning to join our team and employ off-road autonomy technology supporting defense applications that require robust uncrewed operation. - Define and execute novel uses of the OverDrive autonomy stack for customer applications - Manage the configuration of a full autonomy stack and vehicle being deployed across a wide range of harsh field environments - Conduct full-system field tests to validate the performance of the system. - Collaborate closely with experts across disciplines to work across the entire stack to improve the reliability and performance of the system. - Strong technical background:BS in Computer Science or similar with 4+ years industry experience building and testing software. You have experience with modern C++ code and managing the builds of complex software in Linux. Field Operations Manager

At Overland AI, we’re developing next generation autonomous vehicle solutions for off road environments in sectors including defense, agriculture, construction, wildland firefighting, conservation, and more. Our software, called OverDrive, enables ground vehicles to autonomously navigate unimproved roads and complex natural terrain. We employ cutting edge AI techniques to equip our customers with the most advanced off-road autonomy on the market. Overland AI is headquartered in the Seattle, WA area. We are looking for a highly motivated field operations manager to join our team in order to plan and support frequent and aggressive field testing and demonstrations of high-speed autonomous off-road vehicles in remote and austere environments. In this role, you will: Qualifications - Plan, resource, and support field tests and demonstrations both in Washington and in various locations across the country. - Attend and participate in frequent field tests: weekly in Washington (Ellensburg and Yakima areas), quarterly at sites elsewhere in the continental United States. - Build and adhere to budgets, timelines, and resourcing pipelines as relates to planned tests and demonstrations. - Operate offroad vehicles and heavy equipment as needed (training provided) to support field testing. - Work with government and military stakeholders to reserve and occupy land, schedule training, coordinate demonstrations, gather end-user feedback, and more. - Strong operations and/or project management background:BS and 4+ years OR 8+ years of project and/or operations management experience, with an emphasis on on-site or field projects or events. - Familiarity with military training and operations:You show demonstrable knowledge of military operations and jargon or experience working closely with military units and contractors. - Team Player:You excel in a small-team atmosphere, taking ownership and working with your colleagues to solve problems across disciplines. - Self-Starter:You are internally motivated and act in the best interest of your team, even without direct guidance or in the absence of existing processes and procedures. - Strong inter-personal skills:You are able to build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, clients, and government employees, often remotely, to facilitate successful execution of field events and logistics. - Field-test forward:You enjoy getting your hands dirty and going off the beaten path to see the results of what you are working on.
