Field Applications Engineer - CPU IP

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Application Engineer (FAE) to join our IP team.  In this customer-facing role you will be responsible for owning and driving all aspects of the technical engagement with our IP customers.  The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with CPU, GPU or NPU IPs, along with a strong technical background in semiconductor technologies.  In this highly visible role, you will directly contribute to the success and growth of the company. Principal Validation Engineer, High Speed IO

As a High Speed IO Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functionality and performance of physical layer (PHY) components and interfaces in electronic systems. Your primary role will involve designing and implementing system software and firmware features for high speed IO and memory IPs. Executing unit tests to verify the compliance of PHY designs and drive issue debug found at all phases of product life cycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and system architects, to ensure the successful validation of PHY designs. Define test objectives, strategies, and methodologies to ensure comprehensive coverage of the PHY functionality. - Test Development: Design and implement validation tests for PHY components and interfaces. Develop test scripts, test cases, and test procedures using appropriate scripting or programming languages. Leverage test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators, to capture and analyze signals. - Feature Implementation: Add features into firmware to enhance PHY training, power saving, and debuggability to facilitate test development and system software. - Test Execution: Execute unit tests during bringup to evaluate the performance, robustness, and compliance of PHY designs on various platforms. Monitor and debug issues that arise during testing, and collaborate with the relevant teams to resolve them effectively. - Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze test results, identify anomalies, and document any non-compliance issues. Generate comprehensive reports summarizing the test setup, results, and recommendations for design improvements. Communicate findings to stakeholders, including design teams and project stakeholders. - Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, system architects, 3rd party vendors, and software developers, to ensure alignment on requirements and design specifications. Participate in design reviews, contribute to technical discussions, and provide input for design improvements based on validation insights. - Test Automation: Continuously explore opportunities to innovate for test automation to enhance efficiency and repeatability. Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and tools to streamline validation processes and reduce manual efforts. - Industry Standards Compliance: Stay updated with industry standards, protocols, and specifications relevant to PHY designs. Ensure that the validation activities comply with the required standards. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, or a related field. - 8+ years of experience in high speed IO PCS, PMA/Serdes(PHY), memory design/verification/post-silicon validation is required. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or scripting languages for test automation. - Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and protocol analyzers. - Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, including signal integrity and noise analysis. - Extensive experience with software and firmware development, platform level debug, power delivery, sequencing, analysis and optimization. - Experience in ASIC bring-up, validation, debug from first chip back to production - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to debug and troubleshoot issues. - Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and document validation results.
