As the first employment counsel hire, you will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on how we build employment programs that not only empower our employees to achieve their best work, but also establish the framework that will shape our company culture. The ideal candidate pairs U.S. and non-U.S. employment law expertise, with the ability and willingness to contribute to other matters on our small, but nimble legal team. This role reports to the Head of Corporate Legal.What You'll DoProvide day-to-day counseling to the People team and other business partners on a range of U.S. and international employment law matters (e.g., performance management, terminations, accommodations, wage-and-hour compliance, leaves of absence, contingent workforce matters, and employee relations).Develop, implement, and continuously improve scalable employment policies, handbooks, and training programs that support a growing global workforce.Partner with People team on internal investigations and manage employment litigationDraft and review employment-related agreements (e.g., offer letters, separation agreements, and contractor agreements).Support all immigration matters.Contribute to other corporate legal matters (e.g., global expansion and strategic transactions).What You HaveJ.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (California or New York admission preferred).5+ years of substantive employment law experience, with at least two years spent in-house at a high-growth technology company.Deep knowledge of federal and key state employment laws (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA) and familiarity with the equivalent non-U.S. employment frameworks.Ability to think creatively, function independently and work proactively in a fast-paced environment.Team-focused, hyper-responsive and collaborative work style; willingness to build expertise and solve new challenges in an evolving practice.Preferred QualificationsHands-on management of immigration mattersFamiliarity with employee privacy mattersExperience with equity compensation programsPlease find our CA applicant privacy noticehere.Harvey is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition, or any other basis protected by law.We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities, and requests can be made by emailinginterview-help@harvey.ai.Compensation Range: $235K - $275K
